2010 is coming to an end!

I can't believe all of the firsts we have had lately or how much our little guy has grown! Carson's first Thanksgiving was great but I'm excited for next year when he gets to have real food!

This is one of my favorite outfits! He looks too cute!

My child is beyond animated! He laughs all the time and thinks everything is funny. He has also learned to make faces at his momma (see below). My thought after seeing this is not only do I have one person looking at me like I'm crazy but now BOTH my boys do it! Great! Well... they are my two favorite people in the world so I guess it's okay!

Yes, my child LOVES Santa! We had a special visitor come to our house. I had a hard time finding a good picture because Carson was laughing and smiling so big! I wanted to cry because it was so much fun! The best part of the story came next... our neighbor Brian started to come over to our house that night for something but saw we had a car in front so decided not to come by... a few minutes later he was grilling and happened to look up to see Santa walking out of our house and get in his Hummer. First he couldn't believe that Santa was visiting but then he was in shock to find out that Santa drives a Hummer the rest of the year. When he knocked on my door he was laughing and so was I. Of course Carson also thought it was funny that we were laughing but I can't imagine standing in my driveway and seeing Santa at someones house unexpectedly!

Once I get my pictures from Christmas uploaded I will share them as well.
Carson did ABSOLUTELY AMAZING on the drive to Tulsa. He only requested that we stop once when we hit South Dallas... we gave him a pacifier and he made it to North Dallas (a much better option for the stop!) I can't believe we only had to stop once for him the whole way! Of course when we got there he was WIDE awake and ready to play but Mommy and Daddy were ready to sleep! The drive was long and weather was not great!
Christmas morning we woke up then headed to Chase's Aunts house to celebrate with his Dad's side of the family. Everyone was there except for Nicholas but we were so happy to have Grandma Hutto well enough to join us! She loved baby Carson and watching B play with all of her toys and her Cousin Kyla. Next we headed to my dad's house to visit my dad and Patti. My grandpa was there too and he loved seeing how much Carson had grown since the last time he saw him! We left my dad's and headed back to Tulsa and was able to visit with my Cousin's Brittany Dana Casey and nephew Jake! It was SOOO good to see Jake and see how much he had grown! I was also delighted to see Brittany since it may have been my wedding the last time I saw her! SO GREAT! I only wish Nick would have been in town too but we are all just glad to have him state side again!
The next day we did Christmas with our moms! We woke up and had a big breakfast at my mom's house and did Christmas. David 'got a new knee' the week of Christmas and he enjoyed playing with Carson but I'm sure he would have liked to get down on the ground and play with him. Next Christmas Carson will be a lot more fun anyway! Then we headed to Chad and Natalie's house to see Linda and Tom. It was great to see them and for them to be able to see B and Carson too!
Carson clearly has a lot of people who love him! He got lots of clothes and toys that we are trying out each day! He also got some help from a few people with his college/life fund. We are so excited to have help getting him set up going in the right direction of life! We are all truly blessed to have so many great people in our lives!
Oh I almost forgot! We did get to run into Lauren, Kristin and Kyle too! It's always great to see all of them but I was beyond happy with how well Kyle took to Carson. There is no doubt how much Carson means to him... he didn't even get grossed out when Carson sneezed in his face! Carson took to Kyle too... We went to eat dinner and he really just wanted Kyle to hold him (no not his momma!) so of course Kyle did. I'm just going to assume that it's because I had a wall behind me and Kyle had the whole restaurant behind him for Carson to look at!
It really was a great trip. Carson did great on the drive home too but was VERY tired on Tuesday morning. When I went to wake him up so I could go to work he rolled over mid diaper change! Usually that cold wipe wakes him up but he really just wanted to sleep! Chase and I are so glad we got to take him home for his first Christmas but we are ALWAYS glad to be home!

Holidays

Our good friend Mike is Commander of the Lightning Troop... The shirt is supposed to read after Mommy but I thought this was funny. We are very proud of Mike and are very sad he left right before Carson as born so he couldn't meet him. We are very glad Mike and Camille are a part of his life and look forward to introducing him to Mike when he is State Side.

Last weekend I made Chase drag all of the decorations out of the attic. For the first time that I can remember I am excited about Christmas and couldn't wait to put our tree up for Carson's first Christmas. My mom came down for the weekend and helped me get the decorations up and ornaments on the tree! I'm very glad because it probably would have been another week or two before I would have it done!

Carson loves looking at the pretty lights! I'm so glad that Chase and I decided to get a tree with colorful lights when we bought our tree!

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving this Thursday. We have so much to be thankful for as we are very blessed. We aren't going to go home this year instead it will just be the 3 of us. We are going to have a good meal, put Christmas lights up outside and make a gingerbread house!

Smily Baby

This week our sweet baby has begun smiling a lot more! Chase and I have had the best weekend with Smiling at him and getting him to react! Carson also started following me around the room and responding to our voices. I tried to upload a video and will try again later to get it to work but it is beyond sweet!

He is continuing to grow everyday and I am amazed how quickly he is picking up new things! He is gaining great control over his head and getting pretty close to rolling over!

Fall Time!

As always we have been super busy. This past weekend we went to Dallas to hang out with some friends and Carson got to spend some time with his Grandparents. I think they enjoyed having him around (though he'll be a lot more fun when he does more tricks!)

Two weeks ago Carson caught a cold and quickly passed it to me. We both recovered (or so we thought) then I caught strep last week! Our adjustment to me going back to work has been kinda crazy with trying to get into a routine while managing sickness. Keeping up with things around the house has been a big challenge but Chase has stepped up and helped us a lot! We are very lucky to have all his help!

Last week Chase turned 27! Of course his birthday dinner was ruined by my being in bed sick but luckily an amazing friend went out to dinner with him and I was able to take him out this weekend once I was feeling better! Carson and I made him this card and he said it was his favorite card he had ever gotten! I think it's probably because Carson helped make it!

2 Months Old!

This week our baby turned 2 months old and had his 2 month check up this afternoon shots and all!! He is currently 10 pounds 2 ounces and 21 inches long. That's up 3 1/2 pounds and 3 inches from birth. He was the 5th percentile in both before but now he is up to the 10th percentile on weight! Good Job Baby Carson! He is finally moving into 0-3 month clothes! He handled all 3 of his shots like a champ and only cried for a few minutes! Mommy got a shot too and I'm sure daddy will be thrilled to find out that I am sending him yet again for another shot when he goes back to see his doctor!

The dogs are adapting well to having Carson around. As you can see Raegan likes to watch Carson. Luke watches him very closely when he cries but only comes to check on him once he stops crying. Other than that they don't seem to mind him being in their house. I'm sure they will feel differently once he is Mobile!

I went back to work this week and survived! I didn't cry which surprised EVERYONE including me! It helps that I know he is in great hands with Hopie and Rylie! Rylie (age 14 months) is very helpful! She loves to hug on Carson and help feed him his bottle. We are working on her being more gentle but she is doing great! She has gotten into his aquaphor once (and got it all over Hopies coffee table) and went ahead and finished off one of his bottles too! Holly was pretty grossed out that Rylie got it but she was happy she knew me as well as she did! We have all laughed pretty hard about it!

Things are going great and we love having our little man around. We are continuously reminded of how lucky we are to have him in our life and how blessed we truly are.

I can't believe it has already been 7 weeks since Baby Carson Arrived! Time has gone by so quickly and I can't believe I have to go back to work in a week! Carson is growing so fast its crazy! He weighs 9 lbs 7.5 ounces as of about 10 minutes ago! Thats up 11 ounces from last Sunday! CHUNK! I think now is the time that I stop stressing about if he is getting enough to eat!

This is one of my favorite pictures of Carson and I!

We went to Tulsa to introduce Carson to our family a few weeks ago. We got pictures of almost everyone holding him but this one is one of my favorites for sure. This is our niece Britain holding Carson. She is growing so quickly and gets more and more beautiful every time we make it home to see her!

This was carson at 1 month! Dana send us monthly stickers! It didn't quite fit on his onsie for month 1 but I can't wait to keep track of how big he is getting each month!! This bench was made for us by a few of Chase's Partners. It's so perfect and was one of our favorite gifts. It really shows how much Chase means to all of his partners.
We already plan to tell him that he can't go to UT because it would look really silly in his dorm room!!

Today we went to the Pumpkin Patch to take pictures and pick out a few pumpkins! Yes we are well aware that this was more for us than for Carson! He has NO idea he was there especially since he slept the whole time. Chase and I had fun and are both so excited to take him when he gets a little older! They had a petting zoo, horse ride for little ones, hay ride, kiddie hay ride and a place to paint pumpkins too!
We love and appreciate everyday with him and know how lucky we are to have him in our lives. He is perfect and more than we could have ever asked for!

Uncle Rich!!

This week Uncle Rich came to visit from Atlanta. I think Rich had a great time hanging out with Carson. I asked him what shocked him the most and he said it was how small he was. I guess the pictures don't really show his size. I think they had a great time with each other but I know Rich is anxious for him to grow up so he can play a little more. We had a great time hanging out and I definitely enjoyed the company and having an extra set of hands around while Chase was at work.

Thank you for coming to visit Uncle Rich! We hope you come back to visit soon!

Welcome Carson

Carson was born on Friday, August 27, 2010. On Thursday afternoon I went in to get checked thinking my water has broken. It hadn't but they still keep the baby and mom on a monitor for about an hour. Right before we were about to leave Carson's heart rate dropped significantly. It was very scary, especially when our Dr. came back in and told us we were staying over night for observation. This happened at about 4:30. Just after 7 he had another heard rate deceleration. Our nurses were great and were definitely watching the monitors. After we got Carson's heart rate back up our nurse called our Doctor at home (and she was not the on call Doctor) about an hour later our Doctor called our room to let us know she would be inducing in the morning. We had already determined by ultrasound that the cord was not wrapped around his neck so we weren't exactly sure what was causing his heart rate to drop significantly. Knowing that Carson could be a 'wimpy white boy' we set ourselves up for the very real possibility that he would be taken immediately to The Scott and White NICU. Even though he was considered 'full term' Typically white male babies have the weakest lungs. This was a much safer option than risking him hurting himself. I called our friend Holly and she came to sit with me while Chase went home to get our hospital bags and to feed and water the dogs. We were so appreciative that she was willing and able to do that. It definitely helped keep me calm. While Chase was gone he called Sue and Ryan who recently moved to Dallas. It was about 30 minutes before they were on the road and on their way to Temple. This was so great and we were so glad to have them to help with everything that night and the next day. We had also called Camille and she came back from Austin shortly after she heard from us. It was really nice to have Holly, Sue, Ryan and Camille. It helped keep us distracted from everything which was great. Thank you all.

The night was very long and restless. To start we were MORE than excited about becoming parents the next morning. Really who could sleep? Chase had a very uncomfortable sleeping arrangement and I was not very comfortable either. On top of that my eye were pretty much glued to his heart monitor watching him.

The next morning they came in and started the pitocin drip. I sent Chase home to feed the dogs and get a shower assuming we had a long day ahead of us. While Chase was gone our doctor came in and broke my water and attached a monitor to his head to keep a more accurate record of his stats. We progressed pretty quickly the anesthesiologist came in to suggest that we go ahead and get the epidural ready. Up until this point I wasn't sure if I wanted to go this route but there was still a possibilty we would have to do a c-section so I was more on board. Carson wasn't tolerating labor as well as we had hoped. His heart rate started to drop again and before they could give it to me and the nurses and doctors came in and moved us to the OR for a c section. It happened very quickly. We didn't even call our parents before we went back to surgery so imagine their surprise about an hour later to get a call from Chase letting them know we had a baby! My doctor left someone else to close me up and went with Chase and the baby to check him out (remember we were worried he might have weak lungs) to everyone's surprise he let out a very loud cry and proved his lungs were in great shape! We were so happy!

It really happened so fast and I have no idea how I remained as calm as I did. I know our nurses and doctors did a great job of keeping us informed but letting us know the urgency of the situation. Chase was pretty calm too and there is no doubt that helped me to not freak out. Also, it helped that we were in the hospital which it turns out happens to be the best place to be when you need urgent care!! I am much more emotional now that it is over and I have had a chance to think about everything. We are so lucky to have had a wonderful outcome to a tough situation.

Carson was born at 9:39 am on August 27, 2010

6lbs 6 ounces - 18 1/4 inches long (or short!)

Perfect!

I wanted to share this with everyone because most people don't even know that we had a c-section. We wanted to let everyone know Carson's story. The only thing that we weren't able to do was donate Carson's cord blood as we had hoped. But we think everything turned out great!

Hutto History

In the past two weeks our lives have changed more than we ever thought possible. We welcomed Carson into the world and honestly cannot remember life without him. Things are so great, we are so blessed to have such an amazing life.

I met Chase when we went to the University of Oklahoma together. About 6 months after he moved to Texas he proposed and I moved down right after Graduation December of 2007.

We were married April 5, 2008.

In August we bought our first house.

Raegan, our black lab, came late September. She really is the sweetest happiest dog I have ever seen. She only has one speed, GO, and one emotion, HAPPY. Although she can be exhausting I really love having her as a part of our family. During the summer of 2009 Luke showed up on the neighbors door step and somehow I was able to convince Chase to let me keep him. I did not know that he was going to be bigger than my lab though! Oops. One tiny wife and 2 huge dogs! Life got crazy!

We decided we were ready to start a family. On January 6, 2010 I found out I was pregnant. I was going to go get everything confirmed before I told Chase but that lasted about 45 minutes after he was awake while we were getting ready before I had to tell him!

Carson was born on August 27. We are so grateful to have a healthy happy baby.
